A word about our trip

Damn, all the last minute drama with folks' bikes, Jinx snapping shit, D2 not being able to get his new rubber installed. What's up with that?

I know things will work out and that we'll all get to go as planned so I thought I'd take this opportunity to let you know my thoughts about the trip we'll encounter.

I've only done 2 long trips in to deeper PA,once by myself, once with UF, both times I almost crashed because I was either going too fast, got fixated on something, having either the front or rear wheel step out on me, or some combo of the above.

The roads that I know of (which we'll hit on the way home) are the best/funnest roads I've ever been on thus far. BUT, and it's a big but, they're VERY TECHNICAL and could be dangerous. Camber, off camber, hairpins, 90° turns, increasing radius, decreasing radius, a lot of them are blind and a lot of them are either uphill or downhill, and most of them are some type of combination of all of the above.

Not trying to scare you but I don't want any of us to dump it on this trip. I'm still not used to the new bike and I don't have a "feeling" for it yet, that's going to take some time to develope. I'm really not used to the power the bike has and I don't know a lot of other inportant things like when to turn in, when to brake, when to give it throttle, all of this will take time to learn so this being the case, I'm going to try to take it as easy as I can.
I won't lie, I know there'll be parts where I'm gonna want to take off, and I may, but for the most part I'll be trying to get in the groove with the new scoot. There'll be no 90mph down Clareyville type shenanigans like there was last weekend right UF? So if it seems like I'm going too slow, or if I'm taking it too easy, there's a reason behind it.

All that being said, I"M REALLY EXCITED!!

good looking out e. doug txt me & said his rubber will be on tomorrow, so i think that's all cleared up. what about jinx? if it's just a simple bolt, he/we should be able to get it out & fixed in time.

"he/we should be able to get it out & fixed in time."

True that. It's just a matter of drilling/extracting the old bolt... no biggie.

As for me, still gotta do a bunch to the scoot - wire up the gps, adjust the headlights, lube chain, put on rearsets and levers and that tankslapper stuff. Oh, and hook up the throttle lock. Sheesh.

Oh, and I still have to plot a route for Saturday. I already have the routes for coming and going.

90 down Claryville? Me!? You must be mistaken. My moped won't go more than 50. And that's when I use the pedals. Plus, I'm allergic to shenanigans. Puff out, itchy skin, throat closes. The works.

well, I am not in the clear. I gotta get my scoot from German-Harley dude in Carroll Garden. He is too odd... and more importantly, can't change my tires. So I am going to Willy. That is right folks! I am sticking to my people...

So I gotta get my bike in the am. Ride to Willy, drop it off. Marc is gonna give me a hand and bring my tires up there for me and I can pick it up tomorrow after work.

Now we all know what happened to E. I will tell Willy that he messed up on that and that you all have is info, just in case something happens to me.... so he better not mess around!

It would not be SKDMRKS without the D-R-A-M-A

so, he couldn't do your tires? b/c of the rear swingarm?

no, because he did not have the right size socket or something. Went to Willy and it is done!
