in anticipation of our trip, i decided to do some maintenance and change my chain balance tensioner, something that is regarded as a must do for the KLR, as the stock will most likely fail at some point. all is going well, as i'm following detailed instructions online. I start putting the damn thing back together, torqueing the bolts to the specified amounts when SNAP!!! I SNAP MY TENSIONER BOLT !!! I REALLY DID IT THIS TIME BOYS! I'M SCREWED, I HAVE NO WAY OF GETTING OUT OF THIS ONE MYSELF.
I put out a distress call on the klr forum a minute ago, now i just have to wait and see what happens. I don't know if i can ride this thing like that that, but i don't want to. DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT!!!
stay tuned for more developments.

If it's just a bolt... I've got plenty. I assume it's metric?
If for whatever reason I don't have it, Lowes & home Depot and a selection of bolts, SAE & metric
it's a special bolt for the chain tesioner, but i ordered one and it should be here tomorrow. i'm off to sears to get an easy out kit. i'll keep you posted.
keep up informed. if you need any help i can ride over.
o i c see what it is...i hope you weren't torquing it to 69 ft/lbs insted of the 69 in/lbs...
naw, i checked that, it was set to in/lbs. i think i was a bit overzealous and missed the "clicky", and just plain snapped the thing. my bad.
so, as a backup, what do you think is my best bet for picking up some tires for the vulcan on the overnight?
depends on what tires...i don't know which ones you'll need b/c of the kind of bike. i would say dennis kirk, but if you're gonna have to get them next day, it might be just as cheap to get them in a shop.
Sendin' over some good joo joo vibes your way to dominate that bitch bolt.
Use your left hand to catch it or it won't stick, man!
