Well, that's if you believe in that sort of thing which I happen to not. There's the matte rof that whole free will thing...
But I digress. Let me start this story at the beginning which was 2 weeks ago. I'm sitting in front of Gorilla at about 6:50am waiting for WS to show up for my bike's maiden voyage. A ride that he never shoed up to btw. As I'm waiting, a cop pulls up to me (blocking traffic naturally) and starts talking to me about my bike. Now let me say this... I HATE cops. I know most folks say that but between my misspent youth and adolescence, and me being a minority had fueled that particular fire a long time ago.
Turns out the cop rides and just wanted to talk bikes. The conversation soon turned to insurance and I ended up giving him Motorsport's number.
Fast forward to today... I'm rolling down 5th Ave in Bklyn to run some errands and eventually end up at the Apple store to get an iphone. Traffic's heavy and my bike's temp only gets hotter and hotter so I start to split lanes. A few blocks later this woman decides that it's not right for me to have an advantage over her in her cage so she proceeds to cut me off and block me in. I manage to get around her anyway.
As soon as I do though, all I hear is... "Whoop whoop" that's the sounds of the police, whoop whoop, that's the sound of the beast!!" and I pull over.
As I go through the usual ritual when dealing with the pigs (taking off helmet, turning off bike, etc) all I'm thinking about is the points I'm about to get and I'm left to wonder if I'll still have a license after all is said and done.
But wait... as it turns out, the cop wasn't after me, he was after the lady who cut me off and tried to block me. He saw the whole thing from the Key Food parking lot (that's why I didn't see him) and sited her for blocking the bicycle lane, sharing a lane, and aggressive driving. Needless to say she was HEATED!! As it also turns out, the cop turned out to be the same cop that I spoke to that morning in front of Gorilla! He told me that Motorsport gave him a great quote and he saved over $500 by joining them! He even gave me a PBA card to help get me out of trouble should I happen to get pulled over anytime soon (something I'll try really hard to avoid).
I get to the Apple store where to my surprise I find no lines at the register (a first), and return my headphones that I got before the PA trip cause they broke (happened when I dumped the bike on Negro Mtn Road), and bought a 4 gig iphone for $160.
All in all, it was an interesting afternoon.
