This being the week of the 1st anniversary with motorbikes, I've resigned myself to the facts of owning a Ducati.
I've resigned myself with the fact that 99.9% of duc owners DO NOT ride their bikes. most Ducs are mearly garage queens and live their life unridden, the way they were meant to. 3 service intervals within the first year of owership is not a good thing.
Japanese bikes on the other hand, you change the oil, the tires, the drivetrain, and every once in a while you get a $200 service.
I know this. NOW.
I've long since accepted the fact that my 15k service would cost me over $1k. Fine, that' what it costs, that's what I'll have to pay. That's what I get for getting a Ducati. Done and done. Which brings me to the point of this thread (it's not a rant mind you, as I said, I've resigned myself to the facts)...
I'm pretty much done riding for the season. No weekend outings. No day trips. No weekend trips, no Dragon. Why? Shit, I'll tell you why. Tom, the head wrench at Chronic informed today that my front cylinder, pistons, gaskets need to be replaced, the rear's not as bad, but it's not doing well either. To give to an example, when he did a compression test, and an oil leak test, noramally bikes of my mileage have a 2 to 3% loss. That's fina and normal. My cylinder tested at a 12% loss. Not good. Tom says it most probably due to high running temps. Long story short, he couldn't even do my service because the enigine needs to be rebuilt. Rebuilt I said. And they couldn't doi for me, only a ducati dealer could which means... guess what...
Yup, it's gotta go to DucSoho. I'm not even going to get into to the whole ragging on ducsoho thing, but if it's in their hands, and it's a warranty issue, then I won't see the bike until fall seeing as how the engine will have to be rebuilt and all. Then of course, once they do the warranty work, I still need a 15k service which at Ducsoho will cost and arm and a leg and they probably wouldn't do a very good job since Irish Mike will no longer be there. Great.
The only thing I have to do now is resign myslef to the fact that I won't be riding a motorbike for the rest of the year.
So like I said. I'm done riding for the season, a great way to kick off my 1 year anniversary. You all with working reliable bikes, ride safe, have fun, and enjoy those grilled cheeses. Pardon me if I'm not on the blog too often since I won't be riding. Instead, I'll be out collecting those soda cans so that by next summer I'll be on a Japanese bike. If you know anyone that wants to buy a broken monster, let me know, I got just the thing.

WS... can you edit your post on your forum so that DucSoho isn't mentioned. I didn't mean for that to be public info, just for you guys.
Oh, and can you get rid of Chronic too.
The internet has eyes.
Bro, bring the bike to a reputable dealer for a second opinion.
WOW, man that really really SUCKS! I'm with everyone else, get a second opinion before you commit to your resignations. or you could commit to complete denial: f*ck those guys, they're lying, the bike is fine, it ran great the last time i rode it, i'm gonna keep changing the oil and ride the thing 'till the wheels fall off!
