***If you have yet to read my thread below titled "Resignations", please stop right here and skip this thread. After you've read the original, please feel free to come back up for this one.
The guys at Chronic come highly recommended. By a lot of good DML folks I know, by everyone I've spoken to at Ducati Soho past and present, by the folks at Rockwell, where I'm friendly with Nick the owner and Gene the guy that did my 7.5k service, and by all the folks that race Ducs on the track, and finally by the racers they sponsor and wrench for. As far as their "work" is concerned, it's truly top notch and the best you can get, so a 2nd opinion from somebody else would be like asking a high school physics teacher to prove Einstein's theory of relativity wrong. The shit just ain't gonna happen.
As far as my further ramblings and resignations. I was so upset at this happening (was really looking forward to getting out this weekend) that I felt that I had to walk home. While the walk was long as fuck and it was muggy as all get out, the not-so-fresh NYC air did me some good. Whilst on my walk home, I managed to resign myself to the fact that I won't be riding for a long while. With Elise being out of town for a long while starting next week, I see the rest of my summer shot to hell. But I'm ok with that now. I'm just gonna have to dig out my PS2 and get my gaming on. But I'll tell you, the biggest loss for me in this whole thing is not being able to do the grilled cheese rides. Fuck. I really loved those rides, more so than any other rides I've done. Can we can bicycle version of that going?
I've also resigned myself to the fact that yes, DucSoho will be working on it. Irish Mike's last day is next Friday. Apart from him, they have no other "good" mechanics as they all all literally fresh out of mechanic school. They're not up to the task, even by their own admission. i'll get my sled in there tomorrow, and supposedly they'll have looked at it by Saturday. Assuming that they don't have the parts in stock and that they'll have to order them (direct from Italy cause for some STUPID FUCKED UP REASON Ducati stopped having parts distributers in the US), by the time the parts arrive, Irish will be long gone. So it'll be up to some other scrub to rebuild my cylinders. I don't like that idea too much but if anything bad comes of it, I'll deal with it then cause my psyche can't deal with too many more "what if's".
On the upside, at the end of this episode of drama (why does my bike always have to have fucking drama?!), I'll have freshly rebuilt cylinders (assuming it's assembled properly), and an upgraded Ducati Performance ECU that will have the ability to adjust the air/fuel mix (can you say open airbox?), an upgrade worth over $1200.
I've given myself until October 1st to save (beg borrow steal) as much money as I can whilst riding my current excuse for a bike, and if I'm in a good enough position, I'll start looking of a nice winter deal on either an R1/R6, Gixxer 750, or a CBR RR. I mean, I'm asian afterall right? Why shouldn't I have an asian bike? I like rice, shit, I grew up eating that stuff.
In closing, I'm not that upset anymore, shit happens and it's out of my control so no need to even think about it anymore. Again, on the upside, I'm lucky enough to have friends I can bitch to about this and I've received tons of personal messages and even phone calls from DML folk giving me their support and well wishes. So even though this was a crappy way to celebrate my/our anniversary, I'm reminded of the fact that in only my first year I've had the good fortune of having not only great friends on and off the bike, but I've been surrounded by an entire community of folks as well.
Anybody know what's a good PS2 game? What number Splinter Cell are they up to now? Is there a MotoGP 5 yet? What about Need for Speed, that was my shit back in the day...

e,
i have just the cure for your bike riding blues. how 'bout you watch/ride my ride while i'm out of town in CA? seriously, commute to work, go on a grilled cheese ride, hell go on a catskills ride for all i care. that's the least i can do if you watch it for me ;)
i'm down for bicycle versions of the grilled cheese ride, b/c i could certainly use the exercise. we just couldn't go too fast b/c i'll be too busy popping wheelies. brrraaapp!
oh, i have the latest MotoGP (and we could race ea/other online!).
WS, I'll gladly watch you're bike for you again, shit, it'll be garaged even. As far as riding it tough... I'm too sure about that. Not that I wouldn't enjoy it, but it's your bike. Na'mean? I want my own bike.
i understand. just saying that if you get the itch for a grilled cheese...
hey e,
are you gonna have a ducati t-shirt burning party or something like that, because we could grill cheese over the open flames.
that's a good idea marc!
