R.I.P. Mario Adams

well, i had good intentions of catching up to the crew tonight, hoping to be on the road no later than 10, and catch the crew before they left the needle, or, at the latest, at the diner. unfortunately, I got a call shortly after 9pm to head over to a friends parents home (next door to where I grew up, and where mom still lives now), something was going down over there, and my friend kevin lives in texas and couldn't get through on the phone.

as I pulled up, I saw a fire engine and two ambulances already there outside the house, and had a pretty good idea of what to expect, as kevin's dad, Mario, has a heart condition. walking into the courtyard, approaching the house, many neighbors and friends around, i gathered info and as i suspected, mario was in some sort of distress. minutes later, the firefighters and emts brought him out on a backboard, put him on the stretcher and continued compressions, as they were attempting to revive him using cpr. I am sorry to say, they were unsuccessful in their attempts.

Mario Adams was the father of my very good, and childhood friend, Kevin Adams and his sister Michelle; loving husband to wife Isice, and grandfather to Eileen, Gabrielle, Keira, and Kevin Jr. He was a good man, and will be missed by all. R.I.P. Mario Adams, sunrise 7/31/1937(?)-sunset 7/25/07

Yeah that is a real lost. He was such a sweet person. I must say that growing up on that block was very special. Between your dad and Mr. Adams (as I have always know him) was a very unique thing. I am glad to have known him and been able to speak with him as an adult and look back at all the foolishness we did in his house and property (climbing on his garage and jumping off) and to know that he was as gentle, kind and always present figure. Clearly he was a great father figure as Kevin and Michelle are excellent parents on their own.

Marc, those words are very kind and beautiful. I am sorry to have missed the funeral. Can you PM me Kevin's info so that i can send them my respects? Thanks
