First let me say that it MOTHERFUCKING HOT outside. A full face helmet, and a heavyass black leather armored jacket in traffic is not the jam. Fuck, not looking forward to the 90° temps that are bound to come sooner or later, hopefully later.
Anyway, I had a meeting today with Joe from Brooklyn Machine Works, lots of good stuff going on over there now-a-days. Long story short, I used to work there, by work I mean, as a non paid intern sort of thing, basically learning as much as I can as I slaved over a lathe for free. Doc & Joe used to be partners in the business but they split up (thank God) due to having different perspectives as far as where the business should go. Pharrell the famous hip hop producer and owner of various clothing companies such as Ice Cream and BBC is now Joe's partner (don't ask, I don't have the full story yet). So now, Joe wants me to work with him again except in a paid capacity, to which I said yes. For now it'll be just only Fridays and every other Monday but the plan is for me to leave the Habitat and go full time there eventually. Aside from building frames, I'm gonna want to talk to Pharrell about the clothing ideas D2 and I were talking about, AND Joe's other employee Seth races vintage CB 350's and builds his own motorcycles so we'll be doing some of that too. I'll have access to all sorts of shop tools (CNC nigga WHAT?!) so I'll eventually be designing motorcycle parts in CAD then making them for myself and crew. Seth's also got his own workshop just to work on motorcycles, fully stocked with all kinds of tools. Lastly, the Discovery Channel is knocking on the door and wants to do an "American Chopper" reality show kinda thing except with bicycles so I might be on TV one day.
The good news is, is that the extra cheddar will be welcome (mo'carbon mo'carbon mo'carbon WHAT??!!), in addition to the education I'll be receiving, the bad news is, is that I'll have even less time to split between my regular job, Homegirl, my friends, and riding. So it's looking like I'll only be riding on Sunday's now, with the occasional sick day off from the Habitat for mid week shenanigans.
So I plotted a ride for this Sunday going through mostly PA, door to door about 450 miles, lots of twisties. I wish y'all would make it happen and come along cause even though it won't be my last Sunday ride, it'll feel like it cause I start at Brooklyn on Monday...

damn son! that is so hot! congrats to you, i hope this pops off for you cause you damn sure deserve it! i was talking to Jinx yesterday, when he stopped by my office to show me the new dainese skin, about getting you to build motorcycle spoked wheels. and here you go dropping this on us.
yo, you have my full support B, please know that. i'd invest some loot & time in your skills. when we were talking about putting you on the track, it was basically a way for me to tell you i believe in your abilities & talents. i'm sure we all do. sh*t, sometimes we need a "life sponsor" or a "hype man" even... i could stand over your shoulder in the shop and give you high fives and chanting "yeah shun! do that sh*t!" every time to stick a spot weld or something. i joke but i'm dead serious.
i feel fortunate to be down with such an eclectic, talented, and sincere group of people! word! when i think of my future business goals/plans i always try to incorporate ya'll into them. what i learn from ya'll is automatically incorporated.
congrats man, that is the hype sh*t!! sounds like an amazing opportunity and you are certainly the man for it! Lance hit the nail on the head with his words.
hey, don't worry about time unavailable for rides with the crew, we have the rest of our lives (knock on wood) to plan and save and enjoy the bikes, each other, and our respective experiences. speaking of which, gotta go pick up the kids, so i gotta bounce.
by the way, don't forget 2017 New York to Brasil!!
that's fuckin' awesome e! get the fuck outta' habitat. that place is bringing you down. that seth guy that works there i'm pretty sure is "Rosko" on the caferacer.net forum i used to frequent. he's also one of the main guys in charge of the autumn bowl up in greenpoint. he's cool (i bought a starter off of him for the ol' CB). man that's the business! i'm psyched for u.
i'd like to go riding sunday, but i really don't want to take the chance of my chain breaking/slipping. i've unfortunately read 2 this month on the SV forum (1 today actually) that did just that & now i'm paranoid. my shit will be all in on tuesday, so i might be strolling over there to either borrow or do the work there.
Thanks y'all. You guys needs to stop by there and check it out... it's a total boys club! You walk in and the first thing you see is a DJ setup complete with a wall of records, there are all sorts of illegal knives lying around (some of you may know I have a thing for knives), pellet guns, sub woofers, tools, parts, it's crazy!
There's even an RC road track painted on the floor in the front office. There used to be an off road track with jumps in the back yard, don't know if it's still there though...
