The ride...

Real quick now cause I'm fucking dead tired and it's damn near 3am... today's ride wasn't the epic sort that we SKDMRKS know and love, but big shit eating grins were had by all. And after all... it was the just season opener. Regardless, I had too much fun!

My favorite highlights for the day? Hitting the turns harder and faster than I ever have, I even dragger my boot and made the rear wheel step out, but that's story for later. But also, seeing the Jinx's smile after doing Kanawuake for the 4th, yes I said 4th time, splitting lanes with D2 on the bridge and Westside Hwy, there's was something very intimate about that. Maybe it was the sheer stupidity of it, or maybe it was the sound of our bikes making noise together cause there's nothing else that sounds quite like that, and last but not least... all of us blipping our throttles really LOUD like a bunch of little kids in the tunnel just before home. Fucking hilarious, I couldn't have asked for a better way to bring the ride to a close than that.

Mr.Sultan, how was your day in the dirt?

Tacuma, where you at son?

3 times DOPE! yeah, the first ride of the season was all that. early start, nice twisties, maps, good food, perfect weather, no drama, more nice twisties, good riding, no drama, nice twisties.
three states. damn, now i really gotta get me a gps, gonna have to start selling some more shit, cause i need to make some mods to the klr, which impressed me yesterday, as it was basically stock, except for the avons.
thanks for puttin together a dope first season ride and leading the whole way. hopefully you won't have to go the whole season running the point.
everybody looked good on the bikes to me, and i felt fantastis on the klr. can't wait 'til i really get comfortable on the thing, she'll never have the power to match you guys on your rockets, but hopefully you won't have to wait too long for me to catch up. after i do a few mods, she'll be better, but man that bike is too much fun!
i'm out!

that ride was the business! aside from me getting snaked a couple of times, the ride was great! i got the bike leaned over more & took turns faster, so that's always good. kanawauke was a amazing going the opposite way, definitely have to do that more often.

good job as always with the route e. the little loop around hawk's nest was a nice off-the-beaten path trek too. and PA? never thought i'd be riding to PA. fun still.

i won some throttlemeister type cruise controls on eBay last night for cheap. they're called "wrist rests" & some BMW dealership makes them (BOB BMW), so you know they're legit. i'm hoping they're help b/c my bars were vibrating a little more than usual yesterday & i actually got a little blister (could be b/c of the glvoes though). the vibes could've been from the increase in air in my tires b/c i bought a tire gauge to validate my suspicion that my joe blow pump gauge might be a little off (in all fairness the pump is about 10yrs old).

lastly, the reving in the tunnel was a nice capper to the evening. sometimes, you just have to act like a little kid. lol

SO FUCKING DOPE!!!!

That was a blast! Everyone rocked yesterday. Even the new guys. They seem very chill and the type of folks we want to roll with. John was a bit shy, but that is hard not to be (unless you are Carlos) with a crew that knows each other so well. Yes it is true we do have great etiquette when riding and folks need to learn that. Mike was excellent. I really liked the sequence we had, a good balance of experience, confidence and then newbies like me.
Yeah I know we are pretty much all newbies, but not with the same sets of skills.

I felt really good yesterday, until we did Kanawauke the 2nd time, I got so tired right in the middle of it and crossed the double yellow line once and it scared the shit out of me. The third time I took it easy and the 4th was great. The way back was great. I really enjoy white lining. Scary, exhilarating and just shear joy. The tunnel was off the chain. I am sure they are gonna put cameras there in the near future.
Jinx, you rock so hardcore. New bike, new tires, months without rolling like that, and BAM! You just out there doing the damn thing! Plus I really like the busting chops! I got one word for you: BRUNCH!

Sultan, I know you had a blast, but it would have been nice to have you there. Ran into a guy with an adventure. He put 30K last year... In other words he is like el Penguino, but on the iron horse. Had some nice stories, the kind that make BMW riders smile. He also had that biker tan... his face all red but neck white as all hell.

WS... yo, you kill me... you got crazy skills and yet no white-lining? What is up with that? You think cops will confuse you with a puerto rican? Yo, I don't have your number, so I could not text you last night to say peace... and thanks for the hook up at the first gas station.

So how many miles was that?

d2,
yeah, i need to work on my lane-splitting skills. since i don't ride into manhattan too much i don't really have any practice, so i'm still a litle weary of a car merging into a different lane while i'm splitting. i think we did around 350 miles yesterday, right?

According to my clock, from Gorilla and back to Bk, we did 357 miles.

Jinx - I know it's been said but damn kid, 1st time on the bike, 1st time out in a while, dipping through traffic, hitting the twisties hard, you're my hero!

D2 & WS, both of you got mad skills, more so than a lot of the riders I'm seeing especially now-a-days! I'm glad both of are solid and when we're all in a group I know I can count on you guys to keep things tight for everyone as a whole and that's super important!

As far as the route, I'm glad y'all liked it but I'm ready to take it to the next level... I just acquired a Gamin Zumo 550 with the procecds from my ebay sales. Now there's gonna be no twisty undulating back road left touched! The shit's badass, it's got turn by turn voice directions, mp3 player, cell phone capabilities all by bluetooth!

ps - I know you know cause I told you so but throttle locks are the SHIT!!!!!!!!
