Just thinking out loud here...

If I can restrain myself and save up some money, I'm thinking of taking a bike trip sometime this year. Maybe in August, or in September for 2 maybe 3 weeks.

Where you ask? Just day dreaming about it (cause I ain't got shit else to do what with still being ill)...
In the sprit of keeping it gangster... try to ride out to Cali as fast as I can. This will include breaking all known speed limits, long days in the saddle, sticking to slab, stopping as little as possible, meaning making my gas stops count for everything; smokes, food, drinks, piss/poop. Sleeping next to the bike off the road somewhere but not camping cause I won't be carrying any camping equipment, I'll be looking for a nice grassy field. Only going to a h/motel in an extreme emergency (the surprise blizzard or any other natural disaster). By long days in the saddle I mean 12+ hours, those that have ridden with me before know that I can ride a very long time without stopping for a rest or stopping to eat.

Once in Cali, and only then, if I felt like I kept it gangster heading west by making it there within a few days (4 at the very extreme top), I will then shift to chillout mode...
Take a nice liesurely ride along the coast from SF to LA, head east into all the stunning National Parks on offer out there -
Grand Canyon, to Zion, over to Bryce, up to Arches, into Colorado to check out RMNP, then finally work my over into Dallas to visit the a certain Mr.Petiedons. If it's cool with Pete, I'd bust a nice chill there to recoup before heading back east. The route and pace would still be casual with many twisites planned out beforehand including the "Dragon". Upon leaving Cali and heading east, I will be stopping at cheap hotels/motels every night to chill out.

I know some of you may be thinking.... too many miles = serivce and new tires. Don't get me wrong I'm thinking about that stuff too but FUCK IT, that's why I got the damn bike to begin with. Like I said, I'll be blasting west and if I don't die or get arrested, it'll be chill all the way home.

I plan on packing light to the extreme. I'll have all the riding gear I'll be wearing and 1 pair of shorts, a pair of kicks, a hat, my cell phone and charger packed into what will most probably be a tail bag. I'll buy and throw away underwear, tee shirts, health and beauty aids, as needed as I head down the road. Wasteful I know, but somehow so pleasing and very gangster.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the 10 year Brazil plan, but this is a much shorter, intenser, cheaper version that can happen a lot sooner. If this sounds like something you want to do, and are able to do on all fronts - financially, time-wise, family obligation-wise, riding style-wise, then please let me know cause this is something I've been dreaming about for a while now and I wanna start acting on it while I'm still breathing!

Depending on how the next few months go, I am either in or in the way...

not the year for me to make a trip like that, actually, i don't think i would EVER want to ride x-country as fast as possible, especially not alone. but, then again, i don't have "the need".
once you get there and the trip back sounds nice. though, in september, i still may try to get down to costa rica for a little riding and asstanday! who knows?

damn son, shit sounds dope! i might be down kid but given the specifics of your plan a good look might for me to plan my own shit and maybe we can meet up every now and then along the way. like when we leave and then again in Texas...
just not sure i want my first road trip x-country to be at blazing speeds.
costa rica sounds dope too though
and i'm still trying to make my euro-run this year if i can swing it financially.
i'll probably take another trip southbound soon though. NC, ATL (for my peeps business opening), TN, dunno after that... NO maybe TX and back hitting all the dope roads i can along the way.
